Scrip Program
The Music Boosters understand that quality music education can be costly to a family's budget. In order to help families defray the cost of certain music expenses, we have teamed with the school music directors to offer each high school and middle school family the opportunity to earn credits to be used toward their student’s music expenses. The more a family uses the program, the more credits are earned to help defray the cost of music education. The program is called Scrip, and it’s the fundraising program that works while you shop!
Schedule
Order Forms should be deposited in the Scrip box (located in the Hayes Middle School band & choir rooms or in the High School in the hallway between the band and choir rooms) each Tuesday for delivery the following Monday. If you have any questions, please e-mail Denise at thedlund@frontier.com.
School Year Schedule
Scrip orders must be in the Scrip box at school by noon on Tuesdays or delivered to Denise Hedlund's house by 5pm. If ordering online using Presto Pay, then ordered by 7pm.
Summer Schedule
Denise Hedlund will run the Scrip program through the summer. Drop off your order in the High School parking lot by the band area from 6-8 on the dates below. You can also drop it off at Denise's house or take advantage of Presto Pay online ordering. Orders will be available the following Friday for pick up at her house (or you could wait til the next Scrip date, but that would be almost 2 weeks).

What is Scrip and How it Works
Scrip means "substitute money" and in our case, it means gift certificates and gift cards. You can purchase scrip for everyday expenses like groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline, and with every purchase, you earn credits toward your student’s music education expenses. So there is no selling door to door, just use scrip for purchases you would normally make and earn credits at the same time!
What Retailers Participate in Scrip?
We use Great Lakes Scrip to run our program. You can visit their website to view a list of participating retailers and the percentage each offers. This list is constantly changing, and the percentage earned changes also, so be sure to check the list before purchasing scrip. The student earns credit for half of the percentage listed, while the other half is distributed to the Boosters and high/middle school and elementary music directors. Occasionally a retailer will announce a special, offering extra credits for purchasing their certificates. Be sure to read the offer carefully and purchase the certificates during the offer dates. You can sign up to be alerted to these specials.

Enrolling in the Program and Eligibility
Each family must submit an Enrollment Form with their first order and at the beginning of each school year; you will be asked to designate the student(s) eligible to use the credits. To be eligible, a student must be enrolled in the high school or middle school music program at Grand Ledge Public Schools. If a family no longer has a student enrolled in a music class, the unused account credits revert to the Music Boosters' Scholarship Fund. Scrip payments are not tax deductible because you receive dollar for dollar value.
Placing an Order and Delivery
High school Scrip orders should be deposited in the secure order box located in the hallway between the choir and band rooms by Tuesday at Noon. Middle school orders should be deposited in the secure order box located in band or choir room before noon on Tuesday. Full payment must be included with each order. Your order will be sent home in a sealed envelope with your music student the following Monday; please stress the importance of this responsibility to your music student. If you feel your student cannot handle the responsibility, please contact your music director to make other pick-up arrangements.
Order Form
Online Ordering
Orders can also be submitted online by creating an account at ShopWithScrip.com (a service of Great Lakes Scrip Center). Online orders can be paid online using Presto Pay, which draws the funds from your checking/savings account (for a small transaction fee..only $0.15 per order) OR orders can be paid by submitting a payment to the coordinator (payable to GLMBA). Coordinator payment, including a printed copy of the submitted online order, should be placed in the school Scrip box. If you have any questions about online order, please e-mail Denise at thedlund@frontier.com.
If a check you submitted is returned because of non-sufficient funds (NSF), you will be charged a $30 fee payable to the Boosters. After two NSF checks are tendered on your account, your scrip ordering privileges will be limited to money order only.
Reloads & ScripNow!
Scrip purchases typically are physical gift cards.
Great Lakes Scrip offers a Reload option on select cards purchased through the Great Lakes Scrip program. Reloading is easy & quick. Using your online Great Lakes Scrip Account, select Reload to register a card and then add funds to the card. If using Presto Pay, the reload is available the next day. If paying the coordinator, the reload is available the day after the coordinate receives your payment and releases the order.
Great Lakes Scrip offers a ScripNow! option on select cards in which you will receive the gift card electronically. You can even send the gift card as an e-gift to someone. If paying by Presto Pay, the ScripNow gift card is available in minutes. If paying the coordinator, the gift card is availble within minutes of the coordinator releasing the order (which is after payment is received).
The Boosters will keep track of your purchases and credit each family's account accordingly. Periodically, a statement will be distributed showing account activity.
Accessing Your Account Credits
You can use your Scrip credits for music related expenses that are approved by the IRS. These include private lessons (less any Booster reimbursement), music camps, uniform rental, school sponsored band/choir trips, solo & ensemble fees, etc. Just submit a Request for Reimbursement Form along with proper documentation. Once approved, your reimbursement check will be mailed to you at the end of the month.
